Did you know that 1 in 4 women in Guelph are victims of gender based violence? It's an eye opening statistic. However, it brings us to this place of awareness; it forces us to reflect on our role as community members to help create safe spaces and homes for everyone. Th Guelph Wellington Women in Crisis is our local organization/charity that works tirelessly to make an impact on this statistic by providing housing, mental health services and a community of internal support for women, children and families in crisis. Their efforts partner hand in hand with our national organization, The Royal Lepage Shelter Foundation, which takes this same initiative and works to make homes safe for women and families across Canada. Each year Royal Lepage selects a group of agents who are committed to being a part of the change. This year, one of our very own Capstone Agents, David Coccia will be headed to Cambodia to trek through 99 KM of mountainous ranges to help raise funds for our local and national women's shelter. As we look back at this 1/4 stat, we are reminded how much of a privilege it is to have a safe place to call home and as avid community members, we are dedicated to make this a reality for every family here in Centre Wellington and across Canada.
